I've always wanted to make covers of random songs from my childhood that I think about from time to time. Even after I was a kid in the 90s with a 50 minute bus ride to and from school every day, later on I worked at a gas station for many years, and several of those years overnight shifts, so there's a certain vibe of "Certified Gas Station Classics" that are burned onto my brain forever. You know the sound, it can't quite be toooo cheerful because then that's department store jingles (Music From the Kohl's Dressing Room). Can't be too smooth-jazz-low-energy because that's Late Night Kroger Shopping music. Even before I sat down and figured out this song, I could hear those neat little vocal harmonies in the B section, which I always thought would be fun to play. AND I WAS RIGHT. So dust off your nostalgia goggles and help me think of other chestnuts from the 90s and early 2000s, I've got a running doc of other forgotten JAMS and can't wait to do more.
